Burnley are keen to make a £2m move for Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker, .

The twenty-four year old, who has one year remaining on his current deal, has racked up eighty-four appearances for the Midlands club since breaking into their first team in the 2010/11 campaign while he has also had loan spells with Lincoln City and Millwall.

Internationally, he has been capped at every level from England U19s to England U21s, appearing in all of his countries games at the 2011 Under 20 World Cup.

He played just twice for the Villains last season, and his chances look to be more limited following the arrivals of Micah Richards and Jose Angel Crespo.

Postecoglou welcomes Farina appointment

Melbourne Victory coach Ange Postecoglou has welcomed Sydney FC s appointment of former Socceroos boss Frank Farina.

Farina, who was sacked as Brisbane Roar manager in 2009 after a drink-driving incident and replaced by Postecoglou, was unveiled as the new Sydney manager on Wednesday.

The Victory coach, who was in charge of the Australian Under-23 side while Farina coached the senior squad, said he was pleased to see his former colleague return to A-League management.
