Samaras leaves West Brom for Al Hilal

Greek striker Georgios Samaras has completed a move to Al Hilal, .

The 29-year-old was allowed to leave the Baggies having largely struggled for playing time since arriving on a free transfer from Celtic in the summer.

Samaras in turn signed a lucrative three-year deal with the Saudi Arabia side, worth a total of $14 million.

The Greek forward surprisingly ended his lengthy stay with Celtic to join the Hawthorns outfit last summer, but he has since only managed five substitute appearances in the Premiership.

Samaras made another three substitute appearances in domestic cups, and his status did not improve with the arrival of new manager Tony Pulis.

The experienced forward now embarks on a new chapter in his career, and judging by the reception in…

Slovenia 1-1 Serbia: Jovic denies Dragons historic win with final kick

Luka Jovic s last-second header denied Slovenia a first-ever win at the Euros as Serbia snatched a 1-1 draw in Munich on Thursday.

It looked like the Dragons were going to hold out for a victory after Zan Karnicnik s strike, but Serbia s last push for an equaliser eventually proved fruitful.

After a bright start, Slovenia came closest to taking the lead when Timi Max Elsnik struck the post with a powerful shot before Benjamin Sesko lifted the rebound over the bar.

Aleksandar Mitrovic endured a frustrating game, being denied by two big saves from Jan Oblak either side of half-time after the goalkeeper had previously kept out Dusan Vlahovic s glancing header.

Karnicnik eventually took matters into his own hands, starting his run at right-back before switchi…

Pascal Chimbonda keen to make the right impression in management

Former Tottenham and Wigan defender Pascal Chimbonda believes the scarcity of black managers is a “barrier to fight against” as he seeks to prove himself as the new boss of non-league Skelmersdale United.

The 44-year-old will make his managerial debut in the inauspicious circumstances of the North West Counties Premier League, where his rock-bottom side host Kendal Town in the Macron Cup on Wednesday.

Chimbonda, who was a member of France’s 2006 World Cup squad, has tried to get other jobs and while the Guadaloupe-born former Premier League star believes his inexperience counted against him he said the lack of black managers was something which needed to continually be challenged.

At a press conference ahead of Wednesday s LaLiga match against Elche, the Madrid boss was asked if the trio of Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao and Rodrygo have mentioned the rumours.

Chelsea hiring a manager in the peak of his powers in Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte won three league titles with Juventus between 2011 and 2014

Chelsea supporters may be somewhat surprised to hear Italy manager Antonio Conte looks set to become their manager from 2016/17 given the rumours that have surrounded Atletico Madrid‘s Diego Simeone for the last 18 months, as well as the fine job Guus Hiddink is doing as interim boss, but Conte has proven himself an outstanding young coach with an enviable track record most could dream of. What remains to be seen is if he can translate that into Premier League success.

What can Chelsea supporters expect from Conte?

The former Juventus boss is unorthodox compared to the majority of modern-day coaches. He’s not one for conventional tactics, but instead likes two striking options in attac…

Guardiola: Bayern don´t have a player like Messi or Ronaldo

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has bemoaned his squad s lack of a superstar talent such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Guardiola s Barca side that swept all before them between 2008 and 2012 was led by the brilliance of Messi, who was transformed into the false nine who has dominated the European game by the Catalan coach.

Messi scored a world-record 91 goals in 2012. Bayern s top scorer this season is Robert Lewandowski, who has netted 38 times in 44 games, while Thomas Muller has contributed 29 goals in 42 outings.

Ronaldo, by comparison, has played 43 times but has 47 goals to his name, having recently racked up a record sixth straight 30+-goal season in La Liga.

Lewandowski scored twice, with Arturo Vidal also on target, as a fine seco…
